District Administration retrieves 22 kanals of encroached State land | Locals resort to stone pelting, 2 cops injured | | MS Nazaki Early Times Report Poonch, Apr 18: District Administration Poonch today carried out an anti-encroachment drive and retrieved 22 kanals of State land. Meanwhile two cops got injured and 3 women received injuries during drive. As per reports, after receiving several complaints against the encroachment, today a team of district administration led by Sub District Magistrate Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Naheem, SHO Mendhar Anzar Mir, Tehsildar Mendhar Salimdin launched a drive against the encroachers and succeeded in obtaining 22 kanals of State land. Out of this retrieved 22 kanals of land, 16 kanals 10 marlas belonged to Government Middle School Malla Khokhran Gohlad Mendhar. "The drive started in morning with the help of police, SOG, CRPF. During drive local residents started stone pelting on the forces in which two cops namely Abdul Rahim and Nazart Hussain got injured besides three women also got injured," eyewitnesses said. Around 142 kanals of State land under Khasra no. 552 is under encroachment by the local residents since last 40 years in which 16 kanals 10 marlas of land belonged to Government school which was given back to the school management after demarcation under the presence of ZEO Mendhar Ajit Singh and Deputy CEO Mendhar Satpal Sharma. Agitated over the drive, locals staged protest demonstration and blocked Mendhar- Jammu road for few hours which was soon diffused by the police. When contacted DDC Poonch, Mohamad Harun Malik said the drive will be continued to retrieve rest of the encroached State land. |
