Exodus of NIT Srinagar's non-local students to hit BJP
Jantar Mantar dharna

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 18: If the BJP, the ABVP and other outfits of the so-called ultra nationalist and cultural RSS believe that the issue of the exodus of all the non-local NIT Srinagar students from Srinagar would die down in course of time, then it can be said that the Sangh Parivar is living in a fool's paradise or in a world of the past. It is not going to die down. On the contrary, the outraged and humiliated nationalist students are determined to make it a big issue and create a situation that would cause an irreparable damage to the BJP and other RSS affiliates across the country. This became crystal clear on Sunday at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
Hundreds of non-local NIT students, who had been sitting on dharna at Jantar Mantar to draw the attention of the callous and pro-Kashmir BJP and the Sangh Parivar to their demands, including the demand seeking shifting of NIT from Srinagar to Jammu or elsewhere and seeking the establishment of an extension centre in Jammu, on Sunday appealed to the nation to extend its support to them so that their future was saved.
"We appeal to the nation to support our cause so that we could complete our education in a peaceful environment. We will not allow any political party to take any political advantage following their migration from Srinagar. We will continue to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan and wave the national tri-colour as we are committed Indians. We will face the wrath of anti-nationals but will continue to fight for the nation," the agitating students, according to a report from New Delhi, said.
They, in addition, expressed their unhappiness over the indifferent attitude of the Union Ministers towards their demands and said that they had never believed that they would treat the sensitive issue so casually and dismiss the demand seeking shifting of the NIT to Jammu. "The Union Ministers disappointed us and that's the reason we had to sit on dharna at Jantar Mantar to attract the attention of the nation to their plight," they reportedly said, adding that they wanted the people to join the dharna in large number so that the authorities in New Delhi were forced to take action on those who manipulated their exodus from Srinagar and those who punished them for chanting nationalist slogans and waving the national flag.
Reports from New Delhi suggest that - apart from the general public --- the national media has also decided to raise the issues facing the NIT students and if it happens, the BJP and the RSS leaders will not be able to show their faces. After all, the exodus of non-local NIT Srinagar students was not an ordinary event. It was an extraordinary event as it established that Indians have no place in the scheme of things of Kashmiri separatists and even parties like the NC and the Congress, which remained almost neutral.
There is still time for the authorities in New Delhi to act. If they fail, they will have to face the national wrath.
