Despite ban, garbage goes into Devika river

Udhampur, Apr 18: Dumping of construction material on roads , ban on sale of polythene, entry of heavy vehicle and acts adding pollution in sacred Devika river had been banned by District Magistrate Udhampur but all such orders are being flouted with impunity here by local residents as there is no one to implement them.
Local social worker Barat Choudary told to early times that in an order issued District magistrate had banned the dumping of construction materials on roads for the smooth flow of traffic on city roads and to aviod nuisance being faced by common commuters but despite it order is being flouted by majority here as there is no one either municipality or police to implement it on ground causing great inconvenience to for public .
Dumping of construction material such as sand and stones not only creates problems for smooth flow of traffic, but also poses a threat to the lives of commuters," he added
He added that the civic body has been empowered under the Municipal Act to punish those violating norms by dumping building material, debris, and stones on roads and other public places. However, despite restrictions, construction material is still being dumped on roadside and no one from concerning departments take action against them
In another order district magistrate had banned entry of heavy vehicles in city and has made restriction for local residents to not put outlet of their wastes materials in Davika river but all such orders are only being issued on papers and people violates all such orders with impunity another local Raghav Sharma from the housing colony he added .
He added to keep ancient Davika river pollution free district magistrate had also issued order banning throwing of garbage and others material in river but that too is being violated by majority here adding pollution in it even all the dirty drains water of city areas put to Devika resulting scared Devika has been plluted .
All such orders being issued by administration time to time are not being implemented on ground by any government law enforcing agency due to which such orders has no use to issue alleged majority of local residents here .Local residents appealed District Magistrate to implement in letter and spirit so that people may feel relief and city may be cleaned.
