Wet weather to continue in Kashmir for next 48 hours

Srinagar, May 4: Wet weather could continue for the next 48 hours in the Kashmir valle, where people continue to wear woolen and warm cloths though the mercury was above normal.
After recording above normal minimum temperature, people woke up to yet another cloudy morning followed by intermittent rain in the valley, including summer capital, Srinagar, where the administration is busy repairing roads being used by the VIP as Darbar Move is reopening on May 9. However, other roads remained damaged, making it difficult pedestrian and traffic movement difficult.
A Met department spokesperson said here that fairly widespread rain is predicted today followed by scattered and isolated rain during the subsequent two days in the valley. However, at winter capital, Jammu and Ladakh region there could be scattered and isolated rain respectively during the next 24 hours.
Though there was drop in the minimum temperature at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg it was still 1.5 degree above normal. Against yesterdays 10 degree minimum temperature it was 5.4 degree there after 1.6 mm rainfall during the past 24 hours.
However, at famed health resort of Pahalgam, there was not much change in the minimum temperature despite 2 mm rainfall. Against yesterdays 8.7 degree, the minimum temperature there was 8.5 degree, still 4.5 degree above normal.
Kupwara in north Kashmir received highest 4.1 mm rainfall though the minimum temperature witnessed a surge. Against yesterdays 9.6 degree, it was 12 degree, four degree above normal.
Srinagar, a capital city, also recorded increase in the minimum temperature. Against yesterday 9.9 degree minimum temperature, it was 12.3 degree despite recording 1.8 mm rainfall.
There could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 22 degree and 9 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in the city.
Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region also recorded major surge in the minimum temperature. At Leh it was 10.9 degree against yesterdays 5.2 degree while at border town of Kargil it was 7.6 degree against 2.7 degree yesterday.
He said the sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperature would around 18 degree and 6 degree respectively in Leh during the next 24 hours.
