Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 4: - The resentment is brewing among the Kashmiri migrants as the government has failed to supply the ration to them for last three months them with the result some families in various camps are facing total scarcity of ration. The callousness of the State Government in general and CAPD in particular has now reached climax as they have not bothered to supply the ration to migrants living in various camp and non camp areas in Jammu even after the Government issued an order that instead of NFSA the migrants be provided ration as per old scale.
Taking serious exception to the Government's apathy migrants from Jagti township under leadership of Sunil Pandita and other camps as well as some non camp localities staged a protest demonstration in front of Press Club here demanding mmediate release of ration to migrants. The protestors raising slogans against the CAPD and Relief Organization said that some of the families are at the verge of starvation as the authorities have failed to provide ration for last three months. Criticizing the Government for creating unnecessary problem for migrants the protestors said first this way the official machinery of State government was trying to harass the community.
The protestors said instead of solving the long standing problems of the community which is leading an exiled life for last 27 years the government was deliberately creating new problems for them to demoralize the community so that it will remain involved other issues and can't talk of its right of return to its homeland.
Meanwhile reliable sources said that the CAPD has refused to provide ration to migrants unless the cash payment is not made by the relief organization for the same in advance. This is being done deliberately by CAPD to harass the migrants and create a problem for the Government, sources added. Sources said how the CAPD is demanding money in advance from Relief Organization when till date the money was being deposited by Relief Department after receiving the ration. It may be recalled that State Government after implementation of NFSA in the State had applied the same to migrants also who were being given ration free of cost by debiting the same to security related expenses, The migrants protested against the implementation of NFSA on them and demanded that they be provided ration as per old pattern.
Later on the intervention of Ministry of Home Affairs GoI, the State Government issued order on April 12 this year that the migrants will be provided the ration as per old pattern. However CAPD is not releasing the rations till demanding advance depositing of the money by relief organization.
