Nine Marwah villages without water, several water schemes missing from ground 5/6/2016 11:25:17 PM Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, May 6: After Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas complaint about water crises, now the youths of Marwah Sub Division of Kishtwar District are complaining about water crises in at least nine villages of Marwah block of the Sub Division while at the same time the people allege that many water supply schemes in the area exists only in papers while they are missing at ground and demanded that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should order a detail probe into the various embezzlements surfaced the area from time to time. As per the details available with "Early Times", a local NGO namely YDSWS Marwah has sought the intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to bring an end to the water crises in nine villages of Marwah Block viz Mazgam,Chanpur, Hajwag, Saidwaji. Kespeth, Chan Mohalla, Saterwagen, Pethgam and Bhatta where the people are facing shortage of Drinking water. They said that even though the summer days are yet to be commenced in the area, the villagers started feeling the heat of shortage drinking water. The said that the agriculture in the area also hit badly as even after 20 years the work on the construction of water Kool from Dusand Nallah to Yourdoo identified during National Conference government headed by Dr. Farooq Abdullah has yet to begin. They said that people was forced to fetch the water from river Marusudar and termed it a risky affairs added that due to non taping of natural water resources, the agriculture in the area hit badly" stated YDSWS representatives and urged upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Minister PHE, Flood Control and Irrigation Sham Chowdhary and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan to take immediate measures for starting the construction of Dusand Nallah to Yourdoo Bhatta water Kool so that the people the area could not suffer for the want of drinking water and irrigation. Meanwhile many people allege that various water supply schemes sanctioned for the Marwah in last over 10 years did not exist on ground, alleges that the officers of concern department in convenience with some blue eyed contractors embezzlements the funds and withdraw the same without executing of these schemes, besides the maintenance cost of various existing water supply schemes has also allegedly were embezzled as a result of which these water supply schemes becomes defunct with the passage of time and thus virtually making the people of the area to suffer.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
