Poonch, May 20: The labourers engaged under MGNREGA Works in Poonch, these days are up in arms against the authorities over the non-payment of their wages since last two years, sources said here today. "We are facing financial constraints and our expenses are running in rough weather due to no payment of our wages since last two yrs," said a labourer. Sources said, "The non-payment of dues have left resentment brewing among the labourers class who are facing hardship in their day-to-day life." When contacted Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Poonch Basharat Ahmed said that the authorities have undertaken works under NREGA Works worth Rs 40 crore while Government has released only Rs 10 crore which we have sent to concerned blocks for the payment to labourers "But there is still pending liability of Rs 30 Cr, for which we have intimated authorities time and time again but as soon as more funds are released we will release the wages, the ACD added. |
