| Officers ignore orders for summer timings in Jammu Division | | | Raj Sandeep

JAMMU, May 20: Ignoring the government orders aboutvsummer office timings in Jammu, a couple of district heads have issued their own orders for office hours during this summer.
The sources informed Early Times that keeping in mind the inhospitable climatic conditions in summer zones of Jammu division, the State government has framed the policy of changing the office working hours during summer season from May to ending September every year and accordingly Divisional Commissioner, who is head of Jammu division issued orders for change in working hours to be observed by all the government offices and educational institutions located in Jammu division (summer zone) wef May 1st from 8 AM to 2 PM.
The sources further informed that setting aside the orders of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the govt offices in Samba and district are following office working hours from 10 AM to 4 PM and whereas working hours in the government offices falling in District Kathua are being observed from 9 AM to 3 PM ostensibly on the orders of concerned Dy Commissioners. Not only this, the offices of PMGSY located in Jammu division have been made to observe office timings from 10 A M to 4 PM on the separate orders of Chief Engineer, PMGSY
The sources told that in hot weather coupled with frequent power cuts, the employees in this part of summer zone are facing a very tough time to perform their official duties efficiently even as employees working in most of the offices located in these districts are devoid of basic facilities to fight with the sweltering heat ,further said, adding that due to hostile weather conditions, people generally stop visiting offices after 2 PM making the employees to wait till the office hours come to an end indicating the uselessness of winter timings in summer season.
Ridiculing different orders issued by officers in districts and divisional office of engineering wing suiting their whims and vagaries over and above the orders of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the sources pointed out that govt offices in Kathua district and Samba districts are observing office timings in contravention of the of order out divisional Head as also the offices of PMGSY headed by its Chief Engineer thereby creating an odd situation in which non seems to be a subordinate of other running parallel administration within Jammu division over and above the Divisional Commissioner Jammu openly flouting the orders of the latter defeating the basic purpose for which summer timings are changed in Jammu after Darbar moves to Srinagar in the winter capital, further told adding that given this type of state of affairs superseding the divisional commissioner speaks enough of highhandness to which the official decorum and sanctity have landed into violating the government order with impunity. |
