Jammu, May 20: More than three dozen contractual lecturers working in Government Degree College Poonch have been denied salaries for the last two months and lecturers have alleged involvement of non-teaching staff, which is allegedly misguiding the Principal.
Some contractual lecturers working in GDC Poonch informed Early Times that for the last two months the college authorities have not released the salary of nearly twenty lecturers, creating hurdles for them.
"The non-teaching staff of college remain absent from duties and even didn't follow the directions of Principal and often misguide him", the Contractual lecturers alleged, adding that the Accountant of College, gave excuses all the time.
In the letter submitted by Contractual lecturers, the contractual lecturers have written as, "Accountant misguided our principal that March was closing month so salaries were not released and this month giving excuse of technical problem with treasury office Poonch".
Moreover, the contractual lecturers also add, "The Treasury officer Poonch informed that he had not received any advice from College in the month of March so cannot release the salary".
When College Principal Prof. Tejinder Singh was called he said that he had already signed the bills and his Accountant had informed him that due to pendency in treasury, the salaries were not released. The Assistant Treasury Officer Poonch, Munabar Hussain said, "There is no pendency in treasury. Government has instructed us to clear the salary bills before 14th of every month and they have not received any such bill from College". Once again when Principal was informed about Treasury officer's reply, Prof. Tejinder Singh said that Accountant had informed him but assured that he would take proper action and salary of the contractual staff would be released shortly.
