Early Time Report

Srinagar, July 22: The cellular breakdown amid curfew restrictions has taken huge toll on people in Kashmir valley with the government yet to take any decision whether to restore services or not.
People in Kashmir valley have been facing tough times for the past fourteen consecutive days in absence of any access with their relatives and associates; however there is no official confirmation as to whether the service will be restored or not.
Official sources said that there is no possibility of restoring mobile and internet services in Kashmir valley till the situation gets normal on ground.
Pertinently, the state government snapped cellular services in Kashmir after wanted Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in an encounter, the move was aimed to stop rumor mongering on phones and social media.
"The decision of snapping mobile services in Kashmir was taken to stop rumor mongering, it was a preventive measure aimed to control rumor mongers form spreading fake news's," a senior government official told 'Early Times'.
He claimed that once the authorities feel situation is limping back to normalcy, mobile phone and internet services will restored in valley without any further delay.
However the people expressed their resentment against the government for snapping cellular services in the valley.
"What makes authorities to snap phone services; we have no access with our relatives, it was pointless move if the government already had snapped internet services. Such moves added to the woes of commoners who are worried about safety of their relatives and associates," Mukhtar Ahmad a Rajbagh resident said.
He said that the government should take remedial measures to handle the situation in Kashmir other than leaving commoners inaccessible.
"People use phone to talk to their relatives and friends and there is no question of talking rubbish as people have been under an impression that their phone calls are recorded," she said.
