Transfer mela merely eye wash; blue eyed get choice postings

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 22: Teaching community in summer zone schools of Jammu province is feeling cheated by the School Education Department over the much talked about Transfer Melas, which have turned out to be mere an eye wash.
The list of transfers and postings of Masters as well as Lecturers have raised many eye brows as a several blue eyed have been adjusted virtually at a stone's throw distance from their previous place of posting while a number of those waiting of their return to some nearby school from there after serving in far flung areas had to face disappointment.
Contrary to tall claims of the Education Minister Naeem Akhter, the Director School Education Jammu has brazenly floated the norms of own Transfer Policy and objectives of organizing the annual transfer melas. Pertinent to mention that Transfer Melas were organized recently following disclosure by the Early Times in its report that the Directorate of School Education was secretly affecting number of transfers and postings of Masters for adjusting blue eyed and those having political backing.
All such orders were issued individually and the same were not uploaded on the official website of the Directorate to keep it a secret. A number of transfer orders were allegedly issued even during the Budget session with back dated number.
Even as following the ET disclosure, the Directorate asked all the Chief Education Officers to organize Transfer Mela, the same turned out to be mere an eye wash and an attempt to befool the teaching community members, who have no political backing or the money to grease the palms of officials at the helm of affairs.
In the transfer order, some Masters have been adjusted against the persons retiring next year thus promoting the culture of attachments, which were cancelled twice since the last year. According to the sources, the aggrieved teaching community is mulling to approach the Chief Minister seeking necessary action against the persons responsible for the mess.
