Habibullah also joins bandwagon of Padgaonkar, Radha
Taking Jammu for a ride

Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 28: Seeing in the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir an opportunity to strike and defend the secessionists and hooligans in Kashmir, former Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah has also jumped to the bandwagon of former interlocutors Dileep Padgankar and Radha Kumar, who have been batting for Kashmir's Azadi or autonomy and denouncing our otherwise committed and dedicated security forces operating in the terrorist-infested Kashmir. If what Padgaonkar and Radha had been saying was highly objectionable and anti-state, what Habibullah said was all the more outrageous. He said India has betrayed the people of Kashmir (in this case obviously Muslims as Kashmiri Hindus and Kashmiri Sikhs have never endorsed the Kashmiri anti-India struggle). They all took people of Jammu and Ladakh for a ride as if their life is not one of political and economic aspirations.
"I am deeply disappointed the way India has been handling the situation in Kashmir. Innocent civilians are being killed.
We betrayed people of Kashmir from time to time and it is a fact now Kashmiri people have lost all sorts of trust and faith in India," Wajahat Habibullah told a local news gathering agency and added that "Kashmir is a big blot on the Indian political system". In other words, he took on New Delhi for not conceding the Kashmiri Muslims' demand seeking another communal partition of India.
"Successive Central and State governments have miserably failed to make Kashmiri people part of mainstream. India didn't learn lessons from its mistakes. It didn't learn anything from the situation that prevailed in Kashmir in 1990's. Once again, the elected representatives of India have let Kashmiri people down…It was the obligation and duty of India to make Kashmiri people realize and understand that India is not only military power but a great democracy too, but it is really sorry to state that India failed to win the hearts of people and tried to suppressed and muzzle their voice through military might. As an Indian I feel ashamed when a Kashmiri tells me that he has no faith in India," Wajahat Habibullah has also said.
Radha had also said the same. None of the three thought it wise to inform the nation that the Indian security forces exercised maximum possible restraint to avoid collateral damage despite grave provocations and threat to their own life and limb.
They didn't acknowledge the fact that while more than 3500 jawans suffered injuries, some of which were very fatal, the number of those who took the law of the land into their own hands, attacked security forces, threw petrol bombs on them and did all to create anarchy in the Valley was about 2300.
It needs to be noted that there were more 800 violent incidents in Kashmir, including attacks on CRPF personnel, policemen, police stations, public property and so on, during all these days of turmoil and that on an average 2 to 3 hooligans, anti-social elements and anti-nationals suffered injuries. This shows the level of restraint our security forces personnel maintained. Had they really acted, the number of casualties would have been far more.
It is the duty of all friends and well wishers of India to expose these perverted trouble shooters and tell the international community that Kashmir is a communal problem, fascist movement and a movement that is highly violent and that it is our security forces who have been suffering injuries in order to cause minimum loss to life and limb of Kashmiri seditionists and anti-social elements.
