Early Times Report

Jammu, July 29: The chopper service to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine remained suspended for the second consecutive day while traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway resumed after landslide debris was cleared up.
"As per reports there was continuous rain along with heavy winds at the holy cave shrine and base camp Katra since last night and helicopter services remained suspended for the second day," police said.
However they added that the pilgrimage on foot is in progress as per routine. They said the chopper service will resume depending on the weather conditions. Meanwhile the national highway which was closed due to the landslide near Panthial and Nashri in Ramban, has been opened for traffic. "The road has been partially opened this morning for vehicular movement in both directions," a traffic official said, adding, "the highway which was closed after landslides triggered by heavy rains, was opened for movement of small vehicles this morning."
