| Surgical strikes leave terrorists leadership dumbfounded | | | Jehangir Rashid

SRINAGAR, Sept 30: The surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on the launch pads of terrorists in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) during the intervening night of September 28 and 29 has sent shivers down the spine of terrorists leadership that is based in PoK and some parts of Pakistan.
Although two days have passed ever since the strikes were carried out the militant leadership is yet to come out with a statement on the issue. Interestingly, Pakistan has been crying over the past couple of days that no surgical strike has taken place, but there are very few takers for the same at the international level. In fact India has been lauded for carrying out surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads.
At the same time the terrorist leadership has preferred silence and has not spoken any word so far. United Jehad Council (UJC), the biggest conglomerate of terrorist organizations operating in Kashmir is yet to react to the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army. The UJC leaders seem to be in 'shock' and it may be due to this reason that they are yet to come out with a statement over the issue of surgical strikes.
In the meantime, the firebrand Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed is yet to speak about the issue and he too seems to be speechless as on date. Saeed would miss no opportunity in castigating India, but this time around there has been no reaction from him. He has gone on the back-foot and has not come out in support of Pakistan or Pakistani army.
It would be in place to mention here that the terrorist leadership would not have wasted any moment in issuing a statement in case they had not suffered any damage due to the surgical strikes. The silence of the terrorist leadership on this issue is enough proof that the surgical strikes are real in nature and that casualties have been inflicted on terrorist. In the past terrorist organizations have been issued statements on regular basis, but the same is missing this time around.
The Pakistan army to some extent is right in their contention by saying that they suffered minimal casualties in the surgical strikes. Maximum casualties have been inflicted on the terrorist organizations since the strikes were carried out on the launch pads near the Line of Control (LoC) in PoK. The surgical strikes were carried out near the LoC in Poonch and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir divisions of the state.
The surgical strikes took Pakistan and the terrorist by surprise since no one was expecting that India would carry such an attack. It is expected that these surgical strikes would keep the Pakistan army and the terrorist on tenterhooks since the same can be repeated at any moment of time. This may be one of the reasons that the militant leadership is not able to come out with any statement on the issue of surgical strikes. |
