BJP worker alleges harassment by brothers of ex-NC MLA
12/3/2020 11:29:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Dec 3: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in Kalakote, Rajouri has alleged harassment and violation of fundamental rights by family of former National Conference (NC) MLA late Rashpal Singh.
BJP worker Dilbagh Singh Thakur has alleged that for the last two years the brothers of late MLA Rashpal Singh- Randhir Singh and Rameshwar Singh- are harassing him because they don’t tolerate anyone to stand up against the wrongdoings done by the family. Interestingly, Randhir Singh has recently joined BJP. There is resentment among the BJP workers who allege that the family of former NC leader continues to threaten local people.
The family has exploited and humiliated opponent party workers for the last 2-3 decades for personal political interest, failure and negligence of district police is quite visible, Thakur said.
“Till late Rashpaul Singh was alive he too was involved in threatening anyone who opposed him. Now his two brothers continue to follow the legacy. People in Kalakote are fed up with the family of late NC MLA”, claimed Dilbagh Singh.
Thakur alleged that for the last two years the NC leaders have denied extension of electricity cables to his home and at times have threatened him. They are using threats to ensure my family is denied basic amenities of life. “Police are also not taking any steps to prevent harassment and bullying tactics of NC leaders. Infact local people had approached the police officers to lodge FIR against the NC leaders, but it is being deliberately ignored”, alleged Thakur.
BJP workers claimed that for the last several years, NC leaders have been known to thrash people and locals of Kalakote are fed up with the non-serious approach of the police.
“At several times people have been beaten with iron rod and sticks by miscreants supported by National Conference leaders in Kalakote but administration especially police has turned blind eye towards the happening”, alleged Thakur.
BJP leader alleged that Police has always tried to downplay the entire situation.
“Political violence against anyone who stood against NC leaders and their workers has become a norm in Kalakote and we seek action and investigation against the family of former MLA. People in the area are fed up with the attitude of the administration”, claimed Thakur.
