Jammu, Jan 16: The voices seeking much-awaited Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to go louder as the Bharatiya Janta Party or BJP has started its 2-day national executive meeting in Delhi on January 16 where the JK poll issue is being discussed.
The BJP National President JP Nadda on Monday presided over the national executive meeting to review the reports submitted by state general secretaries and the party representatives from Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said from J&K apart from other leaders, the meeting is being attended by senior BJP leader from Kashmir, Darakshan Andrabi.

Jammu, Jan 16: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives were on Monday chargesheeted in a case related to a grenade attack on a house in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in 2021, resulting in the killing of a minor boy and injuries to several others, an official said.
The chargesheet against the arrested accused, Altaf Hussain Shah of Draj village of Rajouri, and his Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK)-based associate Mohammad Qasim alias Suleiman, was filed before the court of third additional sessions judge, Jammu.

Jammu, Jan 16: During the all-party meeting convened by the Election Commission of India, regional parties of J&K raised the issue of inordinate delay in holding assembly elections.
Although the meeting was convened only to demonstrate the functioning of the multi-constituency prototype Remote Voting Machine, regional parties seized the opportunity and questioned the delay in conducting the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi, Jan 16: The 259th session of Rajya Sabha will commence on January 31 and end on April 6, a statement from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat said.
“The President has summoned the Rajya Sabha to meet on Tuesday, the 31st January 2023, at New Delhi. Subject to exigencies of business, the Session is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, the 6th April 2023,” it said.
Parliament’s Budget Session will begin from January 31 with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

NEW DELHI, Jan 16: The USBRL (Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link), undertaken by the Indian Railways to construct a broad-gauge railway line through the Himalayas is now 90 per cent complete, the national carrier informed via its Twitter handle. The project intends to connect the Kashmir region with the rest of the country.
