Delhi, Washington to expand bilateral ties
India-US military cooperation to get a boost

B L KAK NEW DELHI, NOV 10 Come November 16, military cooperation between India and the United States will get a boost. On November 16, the US Under Secretary of Defence, Eric. S. Edelman, will be in Delhi for the crucial meeting of the India-US Defence Policy Group. He will be joined by Lt. Gen. Jeffrey B. Cohler, who is heading the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The DSCA oversees US military sales and financing programmes to foreign countries. Over the next few weeks a series of important events are slatred to take place--all meant to expand India-US bilateral ties in areas ranging from agriculture and business to counter-terrorism. Top US officials will be visiting India, one after another till the end of this year. US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Richard Boucher, kicks off the string of high profile visits. B L KAK NEW DELHI, NOV. 10 The Congress supremo, Sonia Gandhi, and Chief Minister of Congress-ruled Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, have been thrown into confusion, with as many as 80 Congress councillors having resigned their seats. Even as their resignations are yet to be forwarded to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner for acceptance, fisures in the ruling Congress party have come to the fore over the closure of illegal shops in residential colonies. The move by a section of the Congress councillors of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is part of the ongoing blame game within the party.
