On the day of a fresh biennial inning at the winter capital, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad seemed to have put behind itches thrown by his coalition partner as he termed the performance of coalition government getting better year after year.

As if rising from graves, militant groups HUJI and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen are attempting to reactivate themselves and have issued a poster war in Bhaderwah.
The posters asking those in possession of material and cash ‘owned by the militant groups’ to return the same to them were suddenly seen pasted on the walls of Bhaderwah’s Jamia Masjid the gone-by Friday after the special weekly prayers.
Even as anxiety spread among the masses after seeing the posters, the security forces acted aptly and removed the posters from the walls.

Amidst a failed bandh call from some obscure organizations, the biennial opening of the civil secretariat went off here today in a festive mode.
Hurricane lamps studded VIP vehicles made a beeline to the civil secretariat in the morning through various roads especially spruced up and decorated for the occasion. Heavy security bandobust was seen across the city with hundreds of cops and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary CRPF dotting the roads.
The bandh call given a couple of small outfits and a political party failed to have any effect in part of the city as the routine life rolled out in the morning.

Following the precedence of last year, the budget session of state legislature this year too is all set to begin in first week of January.
Though a final calendar is yet to be drawn after constitution of the business advisory committee but it is learnt that the session is most likely to begin on January 7, 2008 with the address of the Governor to the joint sitting of the legislature.
