Major General Afsir Kareem, South Asia terrorism expert, has said that the attack on Samjhauta Express last week near Panipat in Haryana, which killed 68 people, was by those opposed to the India-Pakistan peace process. Even as no terrorist organisation has yet claimed it6self to be behind the terror act, the Indian intelligence agencies have pointed to the fingerprint of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

New Delhi, Feb 26 Presenting the 2007-08 railway budget in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Minister for Railways, announced that passenger fares would be slashed across the board. He also announced reduction of three per cent in fares for AC first class in busy season and six per cent in lean season.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, in his populist tune, reduced second clas fares by Re 1 in non-suburban ordinary pasenger and non-superfast mail and express trains. Out of 970386 domestic power connections only six percent numbering 59452 are metered whereas out of 17487 commercial/industrial power connections only 27 percent numbering 4803 connections are metered by the Power Development Department. .
The reason which has been forwarded by the power utilities for non-metering these connection is the non-availability of digital meters.
However, a perusal of the recently published report by Comptroller and Auditor General takes the lid off the massive irregularities which have been committed in procuring these meters which has resulted in a massive loss to the customers.
