Jammu, Feb 8: Exactly a month after his “Ghar Wapsi” in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh extended an olive branch to the Union Government.
Beigh, who time and again praised the Prime Minister on different occasions, seized the opportunity of the passing of the Bill in the Parliament to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to the Paharis.
Earlier Beigh has praised the Prime Minister a number of times but it is the first time after rejoining the PDP he has praised the Union Government, especially Prime Minister and Home Minister.

India has logged 211 fresh cases of Covid, while the number of active cases of the infection declined to 1,478 from 1,496, the health ministry said on Thursday. One new death has been reported in a span of 24 hours, according to the ministry’s data updated at 8 am. The number of daily cases had dropped to double-digits till December 5, 2023 but cases had begun to increase after emergence of a new variant and cold weather conditions.
After December 5, a maximum of 841 new cases were reported on December 31, 2023 which is 0.2 per cent of the peak cases reported in May 2021, official sources said.

SRINAGAR, Feb 8: A massive avalanche struck the Sonamarg area on Srinagar-Leh Highway on Thursday, officials said. No loss of life has been reported so far, they said.
