Ladakh BJP leaders allow NC, Cong to hijack statehood stir | | |

Jammu, Feb 6: As the ongoing agitating in Ladakh in support of statehood and sixth schedule is gaining momentum, the BJP leadership is not happy with the local party leadership especially the Lok Sabha member Jamyang Tsering Namgyal for his failure to control the stir.
Highly placed sources said that security agencies have sounded the central government that ongoing agitating in Ladakh has been virtually hijacked by some Congress leaders of Leh and the National Conference and Congress leaders in Kargil. “Instead of using their influence to counter influence of NC and Congress leaders in the ongoing agitation, local BJP leaders are functioning as mute spectators”, sources said and pointed out that the high command has taken very serious note of such attitude of local BJP leaders. Sources said that high command is not happy with the working of Lok Sabha member Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, who is busy is taking publicity at national level instead of solving the problem at Ladakh.

Jammu, Feb 6: An ex-serviceman arrested by the Delhi Police was masterminding cross-border terror module in the Karnah area of Kupwara district.
The cross-border terror module of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Toiba terror outfit was busted during the last week of January by Kupwara Police.
A government teacher also with four other terrorists were arrested by the Kupwara Police.

JAMMU, Feb 6: Sixteen people were injured when a bus skidded off a road and overturned in border area of Jammu district on Tuesday, officials said.
A bus was on its way from Arnia to Jammu when the accident happened at Kalyana area, they said.

BANIHAL/JAMMU, Feb 6: Authorities on Tuesday suspended traffic along the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway to undertake repair works at several places in Ramban district, officials said.
Repairs were necessitated after snowfall and heavy rains last Thursday rendered the arterial road severely damaged at several places between Nashri and Banihal, the officials said.
They said several earth movers were pressed into the service by the agencies concerned at the affected portions, including Kishtwari Pather, Sher Bibi, Nachlana, Hingni, Shalgadi, Mehar, Cafeteria Morh and Dalwas, where the rain-triggered landslides had reduced the road to single lane.

Srinagar, Feb 6: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday filed a charge sheet against six persons, including one who is based in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in a narco terror case in Baramulla Court.
The case relates to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and narcotics last year from a village close to the Line of Control in the Uri area of Baramulla district.
Police said SIU Baramulla produced the charge sheet for case FIR No. 104/2023 under sections 7/25 IA Act, 120-B IPC, 13, 18, 18B, 20, 23, and 40 UAP Act of Police Station Uri before the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (NIA Court) Baramulla.

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: Police on Tuesday attached the property of a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Police said a two-story residential house of one notorious drug peddler identified as Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sopat Devsar, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985.
Bhat is currently under detention at Kote-Bhalwal Jammu under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Sopore, Feb 6: A 21-year old man, who was injured during a scuffle with his elder brother two days ago in a village in Baramulla’s Sopore, succumbed to injuries at Srinagar hospital on Tuesday, officials said.
An official said , Abid Rasheed Bhat (21) of Wadoora village was injured during a shuffle with his elder brother, following which he was shifted to a Srinagar hospital for treatment.
He said that the man was in coma and he succumbed to his injuries today morning.
