Jammu, Feb 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that weaker and marginalized sections of the society in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were empowered after the abrogation of Article 370. Replaying to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address to Parliament in Rajya Sabha today, the Prime Minister touched upon the rights and development of Scheduled Castes (SCs) Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) communities and said that abrogation of Article 370 ensured that these communities get the same rights as the rest of the country in Jammu and Kashmir.

SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Terrorists shot dead one person and injuring other in Karfali Mohalla ShalKadal area of Srinagar district on Wednesday evening.

Parliament on Tuesday passed the grant of scheduled tribe (ST) status to the Pahari community living in different parts of J&K.

JAMMU, Feb 7: After remaining closed for maintenance, traffic was restored on the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday.
Traffic department officials said that the highway has been opened this morning. “Light motor vehicles (LMVs) would be allowed to move on the highway from Srinagar and Jammu while the movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be regulated,” officials said.
