Congress nominee files nomination papers

Jammu | Mar 2 Congress nominee for the post of Mayor of Jammu Municipality, Narinder Singh Raju today filed his nomination papers in the presence of senior leaders of the party. A large number of party workers and senior leaders including PCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, R&B minister Gulchain Singh Charak, legislators of Congress party were present on the occasion. The Congress corporators, who were present on the occasion, appreciated the decision of the party for fielding Narinder Singh Raju for the post of Mayor. Appreciating the qualities of head and heart of ‘Raju’, Corporator Gandhi Nagar, Bansi Lal Gupta, who was also present on the occasion, said “Raju is a foot soldier of the party and he has risen from the ranks and such would be able to guide the Jammu Municipal Corporation in a better way”. The corporators in one voice said that Raju was a very honest social worker and understood the problems of Jammu city, “ he would be able to solve the problems of people of Jammu”, they added. All the major political parties in the fray have started sharpening the political knives as no wants to get outmaneuvered in this elections. NEW DELHI | MAR 2 Within less than five months since the brutal assasination of Lieutenant Colonel S Saxena on the outskirts of Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir State, a General Court Martial (GCM) has warded death sentence to a defence personel for killing him. The GCM on Friday found sepoy KC Behra guilty of murdering Lt. Col. SDaxena on the outskirts of Srinagar on October 3, 2006. The GCM was held near Srinagar and headed by a Colonel from a regiment other than that of Lt Col Saxena, according to Army sources. Jammu |Banihal | March 2 After remaining closed for about nine days, 300-Kilometers long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was opened for the vehicular movement, today, after the Becon officials declared the road fit. Official sources said that in view of the improvement in the weather conditions and completion of the repair work, there would be one-way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar on Saturday.
