Jammu March 30 State Vigilance Organization today caught red handed Nazir Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), Kashmir, while accepting bribe of Rs.30, 000 from a contractor for accord of approval of execution of a work in District Kupwara. Giving details of the case a Vigilance spokesman said that one Altaf Hussain Teli S/o Ghulam Hassan Teli R/o Kulangam Handwara, a contractor by profession, lodged a written report with P/S VOK alleging therein that a file relating to the accord of approval for construction of foot bridge with Button Cap Abutment on Pohru Nalla was pending before the accused Chief Engineer. The estimated cost of the work was to the tune of Rs.23.78 lakhs and the accused Chief Engineer was demanding Rs.50, 000 as illegal gratification from him. On this complaint a case FIR No. 18/2007 was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and investigation taken up. Srinagar, Mar 30 Unidentified gunmen believed to be the militants lobbed a Hand Grenade at CRPF Road Opening Party, when they were returning, after finishing the ROP duties at Khudwani, area of Anantnag district, while police claimed to have arrested a JeM militant from Sopore area of Baramulla, here today. Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that some unidentified gunmen believed to be the militants attack on a CRPF party diploid for ROP duties at Khudwani area of Anantnag on Srinagar –Jammu National Highway. Kishtwar, Mar 30 At least four persons, including two police personnel, were injured when suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade near Police Station Kishtwar, here this evening. Reports from the area revealed that workers of Peoples Democratic Party were bursting crackers to celebrate the constitution of committees by central government to look into the demands of reduction of troops and withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act. As the celebrations were going on, unidentified persons, suspected to be the militants, appeared from a by-lane and lobbed a hand grenade targeting Police Station at around 7:15 PM. Jammu, March 30 After working out a truce between the state unit of the congress party and the Peoples democratic party, PDP Patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed has asked four PDP Cabinet ministers to skip meeting of Political affairs committee of the party on March 31 and instead attend the cabinet meeting here in Jammu on saturday. This instruction followed the decision of the centre government to constitute three committees to review the security scenario in the light of the Mufti’s demand for withdrawal of troops and revocation of Armed Forces special powers act.
