5/25/2012 11:18:41 PM
Ahmed Ali Fayyaz SRINAGAR, May 25: National Conference, Congress or their governments in the state and the Centre had never publicly identified themselves with the young cleric Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami's Karvan-e-Islam (the caravan of Islam). This Bareilvi preacher from Ganderbal has shot into prominence with his sizeable Meelaad rallies and sermons, demonstrating reverence in Kashmir's saints and shrines. On January 15th in 2007, Hami's lieutenant, Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, survived a grenade attack at Tahab village in Pulwama when five of his followers died and 60 sustained injuries. Years later, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inducted Hami as a member of the Muslim Wakaf body in K...

Mufti's mission Chenab Valley puts Congress on back foot
Emphasizes importance of Hindu votes
5/25/2012 11:18:20 PM
Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, May 25: The increased political activities of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Congress party in Chenab Valley have added to the woes of the Congress. PDP seems in a hurry to realize its dream of capturing the vote bank in the Valley which otherwise is considered a strong bastion of the Congress group led by Ghulam Nabi Azad. The importance of the Chenab valley votes can be gauged from the fact that the former Chief Minister and patron PDP Mufti Mohammad Sayeed toured the area and evoked good response. The PDP patron not only addressed rallies but held meetings with the party workers at grass root level and urged them to work with zeal for the betterment ...

Interlocutors needs to be excommunicated
Anti-National Document
5/25/2012 11:18:08 PM
RUSTAM JAMMU, May 25: The report of the interlocutors for Jammu & Kashmir like Dilip Padgaonkar and Radha Kumar -- who were known for the very friendly relations with the Washington-based Pakistani agent of Kashmir origin Ghulam Nabi Fai and had participated in the anti-India and pro-Pakistan seminars on Jammu & Kashmir in foreign countries - has been made public. It is not a report. It can be contemptuously dismissed as a fundamentally anti-India and pro-Pakistan document, as also a document based on the reports and documents prepared by the votaries of greater autonomy or limited accession, self-rule and independence. The report of the interlocutors, if accepted and implemented, would un...

Interlocutors dismissed Jammu, Ladakh as irrelevant
Time For Relentless Struggle
5/25/2012 11:17:48 PM
NEHA JAMMU, May 25: The much-awaited Jammu & Kashmir interlocutors' report is out. It is patently Kashmir-centric. It has created furore in Jammu. For, it has dismissed Jammu and Ladakh, the state's two other distinct regions, which constitute more than 88 per cent of the state's land area and house almost half of the state's population, as irrelevant; as unfit to lead a life of dignity as Indian nationals. The report contains everything for Kashmir and the followers of a particular religion and dismiss the displaced Kashmiri Hindus, like the people of Jammu and Ladakh, as irrelevant and as ones whose life, like the life of the people of Jammu and Ladakh, is not one of political and econom...

Rahul Gandhi's Youth Congress on warpath
Amidst pledge for Unity, rivalry continues
5/25/2012 11:17:25 PM
SALIL RAINA Poonch, May 25: Leaders with chocolate faces have a heavy head. Thus goes the ancient adage. It seems the adage has been carved out for Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah. Both are on verge of losing their credibility as strong anti- incumbency factor against them increases with every passing day. The much talked about youth elections in JK have deepened the wedge in the Congress factions. The experiment of roping in members of other parties has failed. The Congress workers are annoyed and termed he exercise futile. Rahul's plan of inviting youth into politics has turned out to be a flop show with every district showing the membership graph as all time low. It is a clear indi...
