| Home Ministry team visit today to review security situation | | | |
Jammu, June 12
A high level team of Union Home Ministry, led by the Home Secretary, Mr Madhukar Gupta, is scheduled to visit Srinagar on Wednesday for reviewing the latest security scenario in the border state.
The Union Home secretary will call on the Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad and Governor, Mr S.K.Sinha,where the team will exchange notes on the situation in the light of the demand from the PDP leadership for withdrawal of the troops from within the civilian areas.

NEW DELHI, JUNE 12: Jharkhand is one of India's poorest States. It is official: Jharkhand is cash-strapped State. Yet, after laptops, legislators in the State have been sanctioned air-conditioners whose cost will be borne out by the public exchequer.
Aalamgir Aalam, Speaker of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, has ordered the State government to get ACs installed at the official residence of all the 82 MLAs. Aalam justified his decision citing the changing climate of the State capital, Ranchi — which was once a hill station and the summer capital of Bihar — and the effect of scorching heat on the health of people's representatives.

NEW DELHI, JUNE 12: The process to elect new President of India has been set in motion. The Union Cabinet has given its formal approval to the election schedule prepared by the Election Commission. The Election Commission was largely expected to follow the schedule of 2002 when the notification was isued on June 11 and the polling took place in the third week of July.
Another significant development round the corner: Autumn session of Parliament is quite likely to be held on the eve of Presidential election. The reason: Presence of all MPs in the Union capital for the Presidential poll can be ensured during Parliament session.
