Jammu, June 17: With UPA-Left combined candidate and Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil almost certain to become first women President of India next month, the maverick of Indian politics and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah may be still a ceremonial candidate in electoral race to the Raisina Hills. The Third Front is considering the name of Dr Abdullah, if ever the Front decided to take part in the presidential elections. The Third Front will announce its Presidential candidate tomorrow, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu was quoted by agencies as saying today. Talking to newspersons at Hyderabad, Naidu said the front would also decide its future course of action at its meeting to be held tomorrow in Chennai. He said the front would field its candidate for the President's post. Party sources said the front was considering fielding former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah or former Supreme Court Justice Fatima Bibi as its candidate. ...

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party chief Bhim Singh Sunday withdrew support to the Congress-led coalition government in the state alleging partial behaviour towards the Jammu region. Singh made the announcement here at a party meeting, saying: "Jammu has been the worst victim of discrimination during the coalition rule. We are left with no option but to quit (from the government)." Failure to constitute a delimitation commission and giving equal status to Jammu in decision-making, jobs and development were other charges levelled against the ruling coalition. Udhampur, June 17 General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lieutenant General H S Panag, today rule-out any troop reduction in Jammu and Kashmir and said that the total deployment of Army in the state was three lakh thirty three thousand out of which about eighty thousand was assigned the job of counter terrorism while rest of them are placed at other positions. Jammu,June 17 The Panthers Party, which has four members in the 87-member state Assembly, today withdrew its support to the Congress led coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir. The decision to withdraw the support was taken at a meeting of the party delegates in Jammu which was presided over by Bhim Singh, its chief. The Panthers Party had lent support to the coalition Government since its formation in November 2002. Mufti Mohd.Sayeed,who headed the coalition between 2002 and 2005,had included two members from the Panthers in the council of Ministers. Army not to seek assistance from any country in fighting terror

Jammu, June 17 The Indian Army had no plan for seeking "assistance" from any armies in the world in its ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the troubled Jammu and Kashmir state. This was stated by General Officer commanding in Chief,Northern Command,Lt.Gen. H.S.Panag,at a news conference in the command's headquarters at Udhampur.
