| Despite truce between PDP and Congress, new alliances may come up | | | |
Jammu, July 23
After the truce between the state unit of the Congress and the PDP having been enforced by Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, the PDP leadership is not averse to entering the next poll, due in September-October 2008, with an understanding with the Congress.
Senior PDP leaders indicated today that the issue of entering the poll battle with an understanding with the Congress will depend on the treatment the party, including the PDP ministers, receive from the Chief Minister.
They also indicated that party may not have an alliance during the the next poll as far as seat sharing with the Congress was concerned but it could have some electoral understanding and adjustment. One of the senior PDP leaders said that even if the Congress and the PDP contest the next election with electoral understanding and adjustment it could affect the National Conference which aims at winning an absolute majority in the Assembly.

| Force relocation imminent, reduction not in sight | | | |

Jammu, July 24: With abundantly clear signals from New Delhi on relocation and reconfiguration of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today convened a high level meeting to work out the alternative accommodation arrangement for the security forces.
From today's meeting, it clearly emerged that despite an assurance letter of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed there is no possible move of troop reduction. What comes in offing is only relocation of the forces thus freeing the private and public facilities from their possession.

Jammu, July 24: An investigation conducted by the Army and Police have revealed that the terrorist organisation Lashker-e-Toiba had planned a major offensive to attack the convoy of Amarnath yatra in National Highway.
The security personnel, however, claim that with the timely interpretation of the attack plan seized from the possession of slain LeT Commander, the attack has been foiled. "There could have been a disaster if the plan was understood in time", said a senior Police officer. The plan was unravelled by scrutinising the documents recovered from the possession of self-styled LeT chief operational commander Khalid-ur-Rehman alias Abu Umair.

Jammu, July 24: The financial pride of the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd is all set to hit the international market with its depositary receipts amounting to over six millions of shares.
The Jammu and Kashmir Bank today informed the stock exchange in Mumbai that
it plans to sell global depositary receipts representing 6.2 million shares. It also said it will issue 7 million convertible warrants to the government of Jammu & Kashmir on a preferential basis. Shares in the bank ended 0.94 percent up at 686.60 rupees in a firm Mumbai market.
