| Girls maintain supremacy in graduation | | | | Early Times reporter

Girls maintained their supremacy in Science, Commerce and Arts faculties in BA/BSc/BCom Part final examinations, the result of which were declared this evening by the University of Jammu.
Total 11,669 students had appeared in the part III exams out of which 7479 students have passed the examination. Overall percentage of the final year result was 64 percent.
Number of distinctions secured in different streams was 109 out of which science stream shared most by having 90 distinctions, 11in BCA, 5 in commerce and 3 in BBA.
Girls bagged six positions in sciences and seven in commerce and five in arts leaving behind just one top slot for boy in arts.
Akansha Kalsotra, a student of Govt College for Women, Parade bagged prestigious first position in science faculty securing 86.24 per cent marks. She was followed by Mridul of GGM Science College, who took 83.15 per cent marks. GGM Science College student, Kamini Kapoor, bagged third position in Science scoring 82.66 per cent marks.

| PDP goes tech savvy | | | | Jammu, July 28: On its foundation day, the Peoples Democratic Party today became the first mainstream political party of Jammu and Kashmir to launch a website for the global audience.
The official website of the party, www.jkpdp.com was launched by the party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on the occasion of its foundation day celebrations in Srinagar today.

Jammu, July 28: As Peoples Democratic Party completed its eight years of existence today, its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in a subtle manner asked the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to "cut through the vicious circle of detractors" and help the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in addressing issues of Jammu and Kashmir. Interestingly he did not name the Chief Minister but his hints were sufficiently understandable as he repeated said that the "state's leadership" is not cooperating with the Prime Minister.

Jammu, July 28: Even though the visiting Defence Minister AK Antony has remained non-committal on the troop reduction, but the state unit of Bhartiya Janata Party has expressed its grave concern over any such possible move saying that demilitarisation can put the national security at risk.

Jammu, July 28: While confirming some improvement in the overall situation, the Union Defence Minister who is on visit of Jammu and Kashmir since Friday, yet again remained non-committal on the troop reduction even though he said that an appropriate decision shall be taken after reviewing the reports prepared by the committees constituted for the purpose.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said the state government is exploring the possibility of appointing a special judge for the trial of the accused in the rape and murder case of a teenaged girl in Langate area of Kupwara district last week.
