Srinagar July 03 Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed conducted extensive tour of Magam, Sonabrari and Wangam areas of Kokernag constituency and met cross section of people to get feed back about the facilities being provided by the government under various schemes. Mr. Sayeed directed the officers to complete the ongoing development works in time to ensure benefits reach people as per schedule. Mr. Sayeed also addressed public meetings at Magam, Sonabrari and Wangam and apprised the people about the developmental and welfare activities being undertaken by the government. He said several programmes for eradication of illiteracy, poverty and corruption are under implementation. He said that peace was a must for development and progress and appealed to the people to contribute in restoration of lasting peace in the state. SRINAGAR: A pilgrim was killed and seven others were injured in early hours on Tuesday due to shooting stones near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas. The injured will be taken to Srinagar later, officials said here. The pilgrimage was suspended for several hours due to inclement weather yesterday but resumed after conditions improved. ISLAMABAD, JULY 3 A Pakistani paramilitary trooper and a civilian were killed and several others injured today in an armed clash between militant students of Lal Masjid and security personnel here. After a six-month stand-off between the government and the radicals, the madrassa students holed up in the mosque exchanged fire with security forces deployed outside it. SRINAGAR, JULY 3- Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has airlifted two critically injured pilgrims from the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar for specialized treatment. One person was killed and seven others were injured, two of them seriously, due to shooting stones- 700 meters away from the Cave Shrine last night, according to Director Public Relations, SASB, Mr Madan Mantoo. He said the body of dead pilgrim, Mrs Devidy Brady, 40 of Silcher, Assam was brought to Baltal this morning.
