| Azad reviews PM’s arrangements, leaves for Delhi | | | |

Jammu, July 8: Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit on Tuesday, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad arrived here this morning to review the arrangements.
Immediately after his arrival here, Azad had a round of the secretariat building though it could not be learnt that what was the purpose of visit on a holiday that too when the winter secretariat is on vacation. He had a brief meeting with the officers to discuss preparedness for receiving the Prime Minister.

Jammu, July 8: At least six persons are reported to have died, many others injured and over a half a dozen houses damaged in the heavy rainfall that lashed city and its outskirts and also in many parts of the region early this morning.
Meanwhile, the rainfall also severely affected the power transmission system for half of the day and electricity was yet to be restored in some of the areas. The transmission and distribution system of Power department is reported to have suffered a huge damage as in many areas alternate arrangements were made till restoration of the main lines.

Jammu, July 8: With major ruling and opposition political parties sticking to a rigid stand, the Prime Minister’s Working Group on Central-State relations has entered into a near-total stalemate with no immediate possibility of consensual report on the subject.

Jammu, July 8: Inclement weather has yet again put brakes on the Amarnath Yatra with heavy reains and snowfall since last midnight blocking the route at several places.
Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway too remained closed for the day due to landslides at several places.
Reports said that snowfall and incessant rains halted the Amarnath Yatra yet again this morning as over 13,000 pilgrims camped at various places on the twin routes to the holy cave shrine.
