Kashmir true paradise on earth and Jammu……?
Srinagar airport boasts of international standard, the one in Jammu is becoming bus stand
7/9/2007 12:38:12 AM
NIRBHAY JAMMUAL Jammu, July 8: “Kashmir is the Paradise on Earth” –the nature has bestowed the Valley with best of scenic beauty while the political leadership of state has done all to convert it into a paradise if it were not –though at the cost of other regions. The International Airport coming up in Budgam district –just a stone’s throw away from the Srinagar City Center –is a case in point. The successive regimes played it very hard with the Central Government and particularly the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to get the international status for Srinagar airport. The state of the art building that is coming up there can best be described as owner’s pride and neighbour’s envy. Very soon direct flights from various global destinations will be taking off from Srinagar. The idea of elevating the Srinagar airport to International standard and relegating the Jammu airport to the downmarket pathetic airstrip was that more tourists –domestic and international visit Kashmir Valley as compared to Jammu. It is true that more tourists visit Kashmir but this happens only for...

7/9/2007 12:36:36 AM
ET REPORTER Jammu, July 8: With major ruling and opposition political parties sticking to a rigid stand, the Prime Minister’s Working Group on Central-State relations has entered into a near-total stalemate with no immediate possibility of consensual report on the subject. Highly placed sources said that the major parties including Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and the National Conference are not ready to budge even by an inch on their stated positions on the Center-State relations and thus it was becoming difficult for the chairman of the group Justice Saghir Ahmed to arrive at a conclusion and submit the report to the Prime Minister to make a possibility of convening fourt...

It is Mattoo versus Mujoo
All India Kashmiri Samaj in practical dilemma
7/9/2007 12:32:44 AM
BL KAK NEW DELHI, JULY 8: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), a conglomerate of nearly 48 Kashmiri Pandit groups and organisations, has been thrown into confusion, if not disorder, with the dramatic announcement in Bangalore by RK Mattoo about the launch of a new political party called J&K National Democratic Front (JKNDF). Several Kashmiri Pandit (KP) leaders loyal to the AIKS have been taken aback by the suddenness of Mattoo's announcement. Equally amazing is Mattoo's disclosure that a core committee he had formed had come to the conclusion that the KPs required a political party of their own in the "present changing scenario to make the community relevant". More amazing than th...
