SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Despite stringent security majors put in place by the authorities, anti US protests rocked Kashmir Valley today as protesting youth took to the streets at many place in and outside Srinagar, however, police chased away the angry youth after pitched battles at isolated places. In many areas authorities have imposed curfew while at other places restrictions were imposed on the movement of people under Section 144 CrPC, police sources said.

JAMMU, Sept 21: Keeping in view the religious sentiments of the majority community and to maintain public order, the Government today ordered the blackout of the controversial anti-Islamic film but it needs to rethink its "decision" to block YouTube and Facebook if the need arises.
YouTube is the major information provider to lakhs of students and other internet users in the State; so its blocking would in turn block the flow of information to them. Strict instructions ought to be served to YouTube and social networking site Facebook to ensure that no objectionable comments were posted, or shared by the subscribers on the two sites.

JAMMU, Sept 21: Union Home Ministry has speeded up process of consultations at the highest level over the proposed revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from four districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that Union Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde has been taking keen interest over the issue. "Consultations have begun at the highest level over the possible revocation of AFSPA from atleast four districts i.e. two in Jammu and two in Kashmir valley. Defence Ministry has some issues which would be addressed before a decision is taken to revoke the act from comparatively peaceful districts," said a source.

JAMMU, Sept 21: If the word that has been taking rounds across J&K police circles is to be believed, police headquarters (PHQ) just did not entertain a senior officer's proposal to post a DySP of his choice in Jammu city.
The PHQ had on Tuesday last ordered the transfers and postings of a total of 31 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs).
