| Parliament attack: Accused Afzal to hang on October 20 | | | |

A Delhi Court Tuesday ordered that Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Mohd Afzal, sentenced to death in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case, be hanged on October 20.
A warrant in this regard was issued by Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur saying the death sentence of Afzal will be executed at 0600 hours in Tihar Central Jail on October 20.
Afzal's death sentence by the trial court was confirmed by the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. The apex court had on August 4, 2005, upheld the death penalty imposed on him by the trial court. Out of the four accused in the case, another JeM militant Shaukat Husssain Guru was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.
Two other accused S A R Geelani, a Delhi University college lecturer, and lone woman accused Navjot Sandhu alias Afsan Guru, wife of Shaukat, were acquitted.

Calling Pakistan a "nursery of global terrorism", India has asked Pakistan once again to stop all cross-border terrorism as promised and dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism still intact on its soil.
While the fragile political fabric of states in India's neighbourhood is a source of continuing anxiety to New Delhi, Pakistan remains a nursery of global terrorism, visiting Indian Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a talk on Monday at Harvard University in Boston.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday attributed the failure of his Agra summit with President Pervez Musharraf to the Pakistan leader's stand that the bloodshed in Kashmir was the "people's battle for freedom".

The Lashkar-e-Tayiba is forcibly taking students in Kashmir away for recruitment, official sources said on Tuesday.
"The Lashkar is short of cadre as a large number of its men and top leaders have been eliminated. Now they are forcibly enrolling students and taking them away to remote areas for arms training," sources informed.
They said a class IX student, Nayaz Ahmed, was kidnapped by a Lashkar area commander, Abu Arif, from Udhampur district's Gool when he had gone to school a fortnight ago.
