HRD Ministry revises guidelines for special scholarship scheme for J&K, Open University students not eligible 9/28/2012 11:56:28 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 28: Union Human Resource Development Ministry has revised guidelines for the special scholarship scheme for students of Jammu and Kashmir. Open University students have been barred from availing the scheme. The scheme is part of the recommendations made by an expert group to provide tuition fees, hostel fees, cost of books and other incidental charges to students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir who, after passing Class XII or equivalent examination, secure admission in Government colleges/institutions and other select institutions outside the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The draft of revised guidelines has been communicated to the State Government. According to the revised guidelines, Students pursuing courses through open universities would not be eligible under the scheme. Besides, students availing of other scholarships schemes, students gaining admission through management quota and students pursuing courses, such as Diploma Courses would not be eligible to avail of this scholarship scheme.
