| MP Lal Singh goes above board, forces 25 police recruits to sweep sports stadium Kathua | | Mission Dosti Wrestling! | | Sumit Sharma JAMMU/KATHUA, Oct 22: Believe it or not but Police officers on the express directions of Member Parliament (MP) Choudhary Lal Singh forced under training constables of Jammu and Kashmir Police to sweep and clean the Sports Stadium at Kathua where a wrestling match was scheduled to be held. Sources said that fresh recruits were appalled at the treatment meted out to them but could not say a word since strict instructions had been issued to them not to violate express orders of the MP. They were forced to clean the Sports Stadium at Kathua to set the stage for prestigious competition 'Mission Dosti- the International bout tournament' on Monday at 2 pm. Sources said, the act of Kathua police, though have pleased the concerned Congress MP on whose directions this arrangement was made, but the incident left resentment brewing among many senior police officers who termed the act as disgrace and humiliating to khakhi. The incident have left many questions over the use of so called 'voluntary services' from Khakhi and many of high chaired officers were seen on defensive foot which included Principal SPS PTC Kathua SP. R K Bhat who in a bid to avoid any wrong foot gave three different statements back to back. First Principal SPS PTC Kathua said that about 25 recruits were sent to stadium on MP Lal Singh's request to occupy the seats for VIPs. Much to its contrast and shock in his second statement he said that recruits seen on the field were as routine maintain field in the stadium for themselves. "In third statement he said that not only recruits but cops from DPL were sent to stadium for surveillance, adding, earlier MP asked him for recruits to be sent to stadium but he turned down the requests later on after the intervention of SSP Kathua, (he sent the recruits to stadium) the things were settled down. Pertinently, if the senior police officers are to be believed the recruits cannot be asked /order pressed for maintaining or clearing the ground for any occasion hosted by a civil organization. They further said that their service can be pressed only if the event is organized either by police or in collaboration with police. Further if experts are to be believed, it should be the duty of JK Sports Authority or even Kathua Muncipal Corporation or NSS volunteers to clean the stadium. It is worthwhile to mention here that Member of Parliament Udhampur -Doda constituency and chief patron J&K Wrestling Association Ch Lal Singh organized wrestling competition at Sports Stadium Kathua with the motive to strengthen the relations between India and Pakistan. The event was organized on the name and style of 'Indo-Pak Mission Dosti Wrestling International Championship' here today whereas the Rustam-E-Pakistan Zoman Anwar clinched the title after defeating the wrestler Dharma representing the Indian side. More than thirty thousands residents of district Kathua witnessed the championship but little aware of the fact the stage for the show has been set by some fresh recruits from police. Earlier, an impressive procession was taken out by the wrestlers of Pakistan, India, Ukraine, UK, before the beginning of championship from PWD Dak Bangla to Sports Stadium Kathua along the hurling of flags of their respective countries. |
