| BSNL employees hold protest rally, submit memorandum to PM | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 30 : A large number of BSNL Employees both Executives and Non-Executives took out an impressive protest rally from J&K Circle Office BSNL Bahu Plaza - to Divisional Commissioner's Office and submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister of India and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Cabinet Secretary Govt. of India, Secretary DOT and CMD BSNL New Delhi highlighting their long pending demands.
The rally was led by the Circle Secretaries of BSNL Employees Union (Convener), SNEA (I), AIGETOA, AIBSNLEA and SEWA in J&K under its nationwide programme, submitted the memorandum to the Governors of the various States but in J&K, the Governor's office is closed due to Durbar Move, hence the memorandum was submitted through Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
BSNL Employees are on the path of struggle since October 11, 2012 to press for demands regarding the immediate end of illegitimate deputation of Non-optee ITS in BSNL / MTNL to protect the viability of Government's prestigious and strategic Telecom Companies BSNL and MTNL, which are fast sinking and taking immediate steps to end decade' old exploitation and discrimination of absorbed/ recruited employees of BSNL & MTNL either by taking them back to DOT or immediately repatriating unabsorbed ITS to DOT and end this existing dangerous duality.
Considering the critical and unquestionable significance of top management being an internal part of the Companies, BSNL & MTNL, as to give thrust momentum and direction to the Companies and policies, strategies, vision and leadership, government should have started the absorption process from Group "A" downwards. "But ITS controlled BSNL and MTNL managements having profound concern for their job security rather than growth of the Companies, right from the day one, in connivance with DOT, started the absorption process in topsy-turvy manner, speakers alleged.
Government's counterproductive and irrational decision, guided by extraneous considerations to give five years to Group "A" on deputation was the beginning of real disaster for growth of BSNL & MTNL and also decade old ruthless exploitation and discrimination of 4 lakh employyes in various cadres who faithfully· reposed confidence in the decision of the Government to get absorbed in BSNL & MTNL.
