Social organisations stage protest to support Buddhists Community

Jammu , Oct 30 : A joint protest by the members of Civil Society including prominent persons of various socio-religious organisations was held near Press Club Jammu in support of the peace loving Buddhists Community who have been experiencing persecution from the majority community which may refer to beating, torture, forcible conversions or execution.
The protestors told that they have assembled against the forcible conversion of 26 persons of Buddhists community as a Bandh was also observed in Leh in protest against forced conversions of Buddhists at Padam, Zanskar in Kargil district of Ladakh region on 28th October 2012 during which shops and other business establishment in Leh remained closed against the conversions on the call of the members of Civil Society of Leh which was also supported by LBA.
The Civil Society of Jammu has also come in support of the Buddhists of Ladakh region against their forcible conversions and have taken strong exception to the statements of Hurriyat Conference and other separatist leaders and asked them not to meddle into affairs of the people of Ladakh region, especially the Buddhists community.
Youngsters from Zanskar and town of district Kargil also participated in the protest demonstrations against the forcible conversions of the members of 6 families of Buddhists of Zanskar and of alleged use of force during curfew.
While speaking on the occasion Stanzin Yongdus of Youth of Zanskar said that the working of the officials posted in those areas is not fair and transparent as it is only because of their connivance and support these kinds of activities are going on in those areas since many years.
Ashwani Chrungoo, President of Panun Kashmir said that the Buddhists Associations, especially Buddhists Spiritual Heads should have raised this issue by now in Delhi. Dr. Ramakant Dubey, President VHP J&K State asked that J&K Govt. and Central Govt. should thoroughly investigate how Buddhists are getting converted.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Jagdish Dogra, President Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Surinder Choudhary, Gen. Secretary BJYM, Stanzin Paksang of Youth of Zanskar, Madhav Vaid of Bajrang Dal and Deepak of Hindu Jagaran Manch.
Prominent persons present in the protest demonstrations included Surinder Mohaan Aggarwal, President BABA Yatri Niyas, Dr. Shyam Lal Gupta, Gen. Sec. VHP J&K State, Pawan Kotwal, President Jain Sabha, Dr. V.K. Gupta, President VHP Jammu Mahanagar, Rkesh Sharma Chalisa Premukh of Bajrang Dal.
