| Process of indoctrination in Kashmir on | | Preparing For Final assault | | RUSTAM JAMMU, Nov 5: Disturbing reports are emanating from across the Valley suggesting that process of indoctrination of youth in Kashmir has assumed alarming proportions. Reports suggest that "certain elements in Kashmir, in collaboration with some dubious characters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, are organizing conferences across the Valley in which Kashmiri youth take part in large numbers". Reports also suggest that "huge, huge amount is being spent on these conferences". "Certain elements in the administration are providing the required logistic support to persons involved in such activities aimed at preparing ground for final assault," reports from Kashmir also suggest. "The objective of these conferences", according to sources, "is to prepare true and committed Muslims". Sources said that those organizing such conferences believe that the "Kashmiri political class, Kashmiri separatists of all varieties, Kashmiri business community, government servants belonging to Kashmir, and even Kashmiri civil society just cannot be trusted, as they are interested more in minting money than in promoting the Kashmiri cause and that Kashmiri youth which constitute more than 33 per cent of Kashmir population alone can achieve the desired results" (read separation from India and establishment of a government that promotes Wahabi school of theology". They also believe that "it is the Kashmiri youth in the age group of 18-22 who have grown under the shadow of gun and witnessed violence on an unprecedented scale; that it is this group which is fed up with the separatist and mainstream Kashmiri leaders; and that it is this youth who could be indoctrinated, motivated and converted into true followers of Islam with utmost ease". If one goes by what could be described as trustworthy sources, then one can also say that the organizers of such conferences in Kashmir would be able to 'accomplish the task of indoctrinating Kashmiri youth within a span of ten years or so". This means the Kashmir Valley would witness a full-scale anti-India struggle after a decade or so. The most significant aspect of these conferences, according to sources, is that "no one says anything against India in these meetings believing that such an approach would enable the authorities to put a ban on such conferences". Sources also reveal that "none in these conferences talks about politics, about Kashmiri leadership, both extremist and mainstream, about employment issue, about economics, about Army and paramilitary forces and about state bureaucracy and state police fearing a backlash". So, it is a carefully crafted strategy. The purpose is to make optimum use of the available time and strike when the iron is hot. If these sources are to be believed, then it can be said that things in Kashmir are slowly but surely assuming dangerous proportions. One can only hope and pray that the authorities in the state and at the centre would rise to the occasions and nip the evil in the bud.
