| AAG produces Revenue Minister's DO letter | | Gulmarg Land Scam | | early times report Jammu, Nov 8 (JNF): The senior Additional Advocate General today produced the DO letter of Revenue Minister in the much publicized Gulmarg Land Sacm PIL today. The PIL has been filed by two social activists of Jammu Sheikh Mohammad Shafi s/o Sheikh Abdul Rehman (EX MP) and Professor SK Bhalla seeking prosecution of Senior IAS/IFS/IPS/KAS and Politicians in corruption cases. Today Senior Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra produced a copy of Demi-official (D.O.) Letter dated October 12, 2009 in a sealed cover written by Raman Bhalla Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation J&K Govt to PL Gupta Commissioner of State Vigilance Organization wherein Revenue Minister asked the Vigilance Commissioner to close FIR NO 8/2009 ( Gulmarg Land Scam). The SVO, it may be mentioned has already produced challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Kashmir against 19 accused including Mehboob Iqbal the then Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Nine top Hoteliers of Kashmir. In the D.O. Letter Revenue Minister clearly submitted that the land in question falling under the Gulmarg Tourism Development Authority comes under the purview of Roshni Act and therefore the case FIR 8/2009 VOK may be closed so that work under the said act is taken-up by the authorities concerned. After hearing Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed appearing for the PIL, AAG Gagan Basotra for the state, KK Pangotra ASGI for the Union of India and Advocate AH Bhat appearing for the FCI, a Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir observed that D.O. Letter of Revenue Minister addressed to Commissioner of Vigilance has been produced in the open Court by AAG Gagan Basotra in terms of earlier order. Division Bench further said that court sees no reason to consider this letter as privilege document and directed Bench Secretary to provide a photocopy of D.O. letter to Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed counsel for the petitioners today itself and disposed of CMA and directed Registry to list this PIL on December 3, 2012.
