| No personal enmity, Taj's worst enemy is his own tongue | | ‘Karimo panny zew farmo’ | | Early Times Report jammu, Nov 8: Senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohiuddin has been in the middle of controversy for quite some time and every time when allegations, whatsoever, are leveled against him, he attributes the same to personal enmity. Only the other day while submitting the revenue documents pertaining to the land in Shopian, Taj in his letter to the Chairman Legislative Council alleged that the allegations leveled by Panthers Party MLC, Rafiq Shah about grabbing forest land in Sedev area of Shopaian in South Kashmir were out of the personal enmity of Shah and PDP MLC Murtaza Khan with him. From last one year or so, if one studies the statements of Taj on such occasions, it is interesting to note that Taj reacts to each and every allegation or accusations very sharply and in certain cases he immediately opts for legal recourse. But what is even more interesting is the fact that every allegation leveled against Taj was against a backdrop. While going through his pre-allegation statements, it becomes evident that Taj's tongue is his worst enemy. It is very difficult to cite an example where Taj did not speak on contentious issues between the coalition partners or within Congress and it is but natural Taj has to bear the brunt of either National Conference spokesperson Dr. Mustafa Kamaal or leaders owing allegiance to either faction of the State Congress unit. As if it was not enough, Taj opened another front with the opposition parties PDP, JKNPP and BJP not as a Congress leader but in the capacity of official spokesperson of the coalition. In other words Taj could not keep friends around him but produced more and more enemies-thanks to his non-stop tongue. It goes like Kashmiri proverbial-Karimo panny zew fermo, and still Taj blames others for all the trouble. Reacting sharply or quickly to accusations may be warranted at certain occasions but not always. As somebody has rightly said, "If you keep talking, you might lose your job". Another saying goes, " if you keep talking you will always find some one in your life to hurt and betray you". There is no denying the fact that Taj is in possession of valid revenue records certified by the forest department in 1984-85 which clearly suggest that the land in question was registered in Taj Mohiuddin's name in 1985 and the Forest Department at that time has certified that the land in question was not the forest land and the house constructed by Taj on the land is his personal property. Why was it that Rafiq Shah raised the issue on the floor of the House which was quite embarrassing for Taj? But does it mean that the House panel constituted by the Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra has personal enmity with Taj. Why should Murtaza Khan malign Taj when there is no clash of interests between the two and no immediate personal animosity? Taj cannot find faults with others but the fault lies with him and when he is in politics he has to understand Machiavellian theory of avoiding controversies. Whether it is Congress leader Abdul Gani Vakeel, NC firebrand Dr. Mustafa Kamaal, and PDP leader Murtaza Khan, Taj himself provided them opportunity and they utilized it to their advantage. |
