| JCC announces fresh protest programme | | Deception, delaying tactics forcing us into agitation: JCC leaders | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 8 (KNS): In yet another round of protests, to press for their demands, Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of the state employees' organizations has called for a two day pen-down strike on December 14 and 15.
"The state Government has failed to fulfill our demands as promised to us by them. As a mark of protest for deception, we announce a two-day pen-down strike on December 14 and 15 in whole of the state", JCC senior leader Gafoor Dar told reporters in a press conference at the Press Club here this morning.
JCC leaders Mohammad Khurshid Aalam, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Nusrat Beigh also addressed the press conference.
They accused the government of failing to live up to its promises and fulfill the commitments made to employees, 'which has forced the JCC to announce fresh protest programme'.
Ahead of the strike, the employees will launch protests, dharnas, demonstrations and rallies in all districts, tehsil and block headquarters to gear up for a major show of strength in the state.
"Employees will hold peaceful protest demonstrations at district headquarters from 8th December to 13 December", said JCC leaders. They said that that the employees through these demonstrations would press government for their demands.
"Two days strike will be observed on 14 and 15th December and on 15th December the employees will gather in Jammu for peaceful march towards to Governor House and the memorandum will be presented to the Governor about the demands and the promises and commitments made by the government with JCC"; said JCC leaders.
"We had been promised by the government in its two meetings in July and September last year to fulfil our demands following strikes held by the employees -- But none of them has been fulfilled", said the leaders.
The employes are demanding enhancement in retirement age from 58 to 60, policy on regularisation of daily wagers and removal of pay anomalies in various clerical grades apart from payment of 6th pay commission arrears in full.
JCC leader Khurshid Aalam said that the governemt had entered twice into agreement with the employees and whenever government asked for time JCC always provided it. "It is unfortunate that the government has deceived us so for".
Meanwhile, hundreds of employees today protested against the government's alleged backtracking from its promises and agreements with the employee's trade unions. |
