Atul's ton guides Simula XI to big win

JAMMU, Nov 8: The HPCC XI and Simula XI won their respective matches to consolidate their positions in the Eid-Diwali Milan Cricket Cup underway at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, HPCC XI defeated FCC XI narrowly by three runs. After winning the toss and batting first, HPCC XI scored 144 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Sajad remained top scorer with 28 runs while Habib contributed 21-ball 25 runs and Saqib added eight-ball 16.
From FCC XI, left-arm spinner, Sahil Gill, student of 11th standard was most successful bowler who took six important wickets, while Ambrose and Nitesh shared apiece each.
In reply, FCC XI could not chase the target and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for score 141 runs for the loss of six wickets thus lost the match for three runs. Taffy was top scorer with 36-ball 38 runs including seven fours. Other two batsmen, Vinod and Tiny contributed 28 and 16 runs respectively.
For HPCC XI, Sahil clinched three wickets, followed by Nadeem and Habib, who shared one wicket each. Sahil Gill of Friends Cricket Club XI was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bowling.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Simula XI trounced Young Star XI by 84 runs. Winning the toss and batting first, Simula XI set a huge target of 226 runs losing two wickets. Atul hit a brilliant unbeaten century with 130 runs coming off just 62 deliveries. He hit the ball for 16 boundaries and six sixes.
Shashi also did well making 47-ball 73 runs. For YCC XI, Akash and Sahil shared one wicket each.
Batting second, YCC XI could make 141 runs in given 20 overs for nine wickets. Nipun top scored 27 runs while Akash and Rohit added 25 and 16 runs respectively. For Simula XI, Shashi and Sameer took two wickets each. Prithpal, Vikram, Rocky, Varun shared apiece each. Atul of Simula was declared man of the match for his match winning innings.
Today's matches were officiated by penal of officials including Suhail, Sadiq, Ashwani, Puneet (umpires), Sanjay Bhatti and Yogesh (scorers).
FIXTURE: JKP XI shall take on DD XI (morning) while RCC XI shall be playing against Vishal XI (afternoon).
