JU organizes workshop on "Time Management" for MBA students

JAMMU, Nov 8 : To instill the importance of time management skills among the budding managers, a workshop on 'Time Management' was organized for the students of MBA at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.
Dr. Jaya Bhasin, Faculty member, The Business School, University of Jammu was the resource person who facilitated the workshop.
Dr. Bhasin explained the importance of time management for the managers to achieve the professional and personal goals. She laid emphasis on suitable distribution of time between work, play and rest. While work is prime concern, contemplation and thinking, 'me time', personal well being and the related aspects need to be given due place in day-to -day working to promote managerial delivery, Dr. Bhasin said. She further emphasized on the importance of planning the day ahead and to prioritize the jobs on the "TO DO" list. The concept of 'monkey management' and the importance of the word 'NO' was also discussed at length. Dr. Jaya Bhasin also elaborated on the strategies which help managers working under pressure to deliver effectively. She also talked about the common problems like office mismanagement, partial utilization of resources, ineffectiveness, pending work, chaos and conflicts etc. arising because of faulty time management.
Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Rector, Kathua Campus in the opening session of the workshop emphasized on the need for managing time both effectively and efficiently.
She said that one who respects time, essentially is able to find a due place for oneself subsequently. Effective time management adds value to the initiatives thus assuring success. "Matching speed and direction with time is all about effective management. Those who appreciate the sensitivity involved in the power of effective management of time, ultimately prove as leaders to reckon with", said Professor Rohmetra.
The workshop was interactive in nature, supplemented by behavioural exercises, power point presentations and the discussion mode.
