| Host KC Public School lifts Double Championship | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 17: In the second edition of Shakuntala Rani Memorial Inter School Basketball Tournament hosted by KC Public School with the host school emerging champion in both boys and girls categories. The tournament with eight CBSE affiliated schools competing for running trophies in both categories saw quite a bit of excitement in the preliminary 24 pool matches and the two semi finals. The event took off on November 6 with boys' teams from KC Public School, KC International School, JK Public School, Heritage School, Banyan International School, Army Public School Akhnoor and JP World School competing for the championship for the first time since the inaugural edition of the tournament launched last year was confined to girls only. The girls' teams in the fray were KC Public School, KC International School, Jodhamal Public School, Presentation Convent, JK Public School, jp World Schooi, Banyan international Schooi and APS Akhnoor. In the semi finals played on November 10, KC Public School boys ousted JK Public School and Jp World defeated KC International to qualify for the final. In the girls' category, KC Public School outdid Jodhamal Public to enter the final. In the second semi final, APS Akhnoor proved to be too good for Presentation Convent. In the first final match played this morning between KC Public School boys and JP World School, the hosts carried the day with an emphatic 38-20 win against their rivals to emerge champions. The host girls repeated the feat by registering a 22-08 victory over APS Akhnoor in a very exciting final match. R.S. Chib, Minister for Technical and Medical Education, Sports and Youth Services, Government of J&K, graced the concluding function as Chief Guest and distributed certificates, medals and trophies to the participating schools. In his brief address to the gathering, he lauded the initiative of KC Public School management in creating platforms for schools of Jammu to compete with each other in the healthy spirit of sportsmanship and also congratulated the winning teams. He also appreciated the sports complex of the school comprising a swimming pool, two basketball courts and an international level synthetic surface tennis court.
