| Azad's offensive against Kamaal: | | Apology is meaningless, dares Farooq, Omar to take action against him; 'Defaming forces for votes is shameless politics' | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 17: In what can be seen as his political offensive against ruling National Conference leadership for the first time in last over four years, Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today came out with full blown and sharpshooting attack challenging the high command to come clear on what Dr Mustafa Kamaal stated the other day while terming India as their enemy. Azad struck the blow contending it was for the leadership to make clear if they agreed with what Kamaal uttered or else take action against him.
" Kamaal has taken a u -turn and is in complete denial mode now…he has even apologized …..but that is not enough…….it is rather meaningless ", Azad said while speaking to media on the sidelines of a function at JU today. The senior Congress leader said that NC leader Mustafa Kamaal has made anti-national statement while terming India as enemy and the neighboring nation Pakistan as a friend.
" It doesn't make any difference now if he is repentant or regretful…..this stance is just meaningless….." , the Union Health Minister said adding in the same breath that it was for the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah to come clear on this statement. "They are under test to take action against Kamal who happens to be their close their relative……", Azad said in challenging tone while completely dismissing the denial and apology from the NC leader.
"Kamal should have remembered before making such a state4ment that his own brother Dr Farooq Abdullah is minister in Centre and his nephew is the Chief Minister of the state…….no matter he is trying to retract from his stance he made in a public meeting but neither any clarification nor his denial would serve any purpose now…..it is high time for the party High Command to take tough action against him ."It is challenge for them and they are under test this time…", the Congress veteran asserted in a tough and meaningful tone.
Azad 's toughened posture against Kamal is also being seen in the light of Kamal having made personal attack against him on a number of occasions recently while terming him as 'sweet poison' and even having said in a radio programme that his (Azad) has no political standing in J&K. However, today's offensive was wrapped up more in the light of what Kamal said ina public meeting on Sunday last in Kishtwar.
Dr Mustafa Kamal who is Additional General Secretary of ruling NC accused India of having rejected a no-war pact with Pakistan and the army of being hurdle in the return of peace in state. He even stated that India had adopted a stubborn attitude towards AFSPA revocation on account of which J&K was suffering. It was in context of these utterings he said " India is our biggest enemy not, Pakistan'
