| Police Chief initiates a process to streamline transfer policy of Cops..? | | Yeh Apun Ki Choice Ka Mamla Hai……. ! | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Police brass here in Jammu and Kashmir is learnt to have been contemplating on streamlining the "system" thereby giving farewell to the "usual" interference in transfers and postings of police personnel by political bigwigs. "Thanks to the new police chief, Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, who has initiated a process to streamline the system within the department to ensure performance based transfers and postings of non-gazetted rank police officers of the rank of sub-inspectors and inspectors besides gazetted rank police officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySPs) and Superintendent of Police (SPs)," highly placed sources in Police Head Quarter (PHQ) revealed to Early Times. Worth to mention here that DGP, Ashok Prasad after taking over as new police chief of the state, had wished that he would like to consolidate the gains made by the police force and would lead them to make it the most modern force in the country. "Paving way to make his dream come true, DGP Ashok Prasad, who is heading about 1.2 lakh strong Jammu and Kashmir Police force is formulating an internal policy to ensure that deserving police personnel must be transferred and posted at the deserving chair while those who are always after alleged lucrative postings be held back tightly," reliable sources in PHQ further disclosed to ET. If sources are to be believed soon there will be a policy on uniform posts and non-uniform posts. Besides, there would be rotational system in transfers and postings. "If an officer has served for three years in executive as well as Traffic wings (uniform) then he/she will have to further serve in other wings like CID, Special Branch, Crime Branch, State Vigilance Organization for a same time period. The entire service record of the officers must be reviewed before effecting the transfers and postings," disclosed sources further adding that "though a such a type of policy already exists but none of the senior police brass could vigorously implement it following political interferences in past." "No unnecessary recommendations from political front of the state are being entertained these days. Those police officers who do not enjoy good rapport in the police department because of their corrupt practices and are always looking for recommendations from the political quarters to ensure they are always at choicest postings, are surviving with sleepless nights as they have got an indication that they would be either shunted to remote or far-flung areas or they would be shelved in non-public dealing points like at district, range or zonal police headquarters," sources further shared. "A 1979-batch IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh cadre, DGP Ashok Prasad during his couple of meetings with senior rank police officers has discussed at length how to streamline the internal system and who to present the best modern police system to win the hearts of general public. He had also discussed certain ideas through which People friendly Policing really see the light of the day and does not remain mere a slogan," sources further shared. |
