Jammu, Dec 3: Harsh Dev Singh NPP MLA and its chairman has strongly condemned the highly outrageous, obnoxious and inexorable conduct of the state govt. and district administration Udhampur in dealing with the victims of bus accident that took place in Dudu Basantgarh on 24th Nov. in which 20 persons were killed and more than 60 injured. He said that no follow up action whatsoever has been taken by the administration, no responsibilities fixed, no ex-gratia paid and no care being taken of injured or of the dependents of the deceased. He said that despite the announcement of the Governor and Chief Minister for provision of free medical aid to the victims, several injured were being charged huge amounts by Military Hospital Udhampur and Medical College Jammu for treatment. He said that even the dead were not spared and the attendants were harassed and asked to pay huge amounts as medical charges failing which the Military Hospital Udhampur even refused to hand over the dead bodies of bus victims to their relatives. He said that the attendants of one Joginder Paul, a deceased who died in Military Hospital Udhampur were refused the dead body until he paid the medical bill of the Hospital amounting to Rs. 33014/-. He said one Randish Singh admitted in Ward No. 1 in Medical College Jammu has been asked to arrange Rs. 50,000/- for his operation. Harsh Dev Singh further demanded registration of criminal cases against the concerned officers of R&B (PWD) Deptt. Udhampur whose criminal negligence in ensuring proper repairs, upkeep, maintenance of the said road was primarily responsible for the said accident. He said that R&B (PWD) had been apprised by the local inhabitants about the dilapidated condition of the road and urgency of repairs but still it didn't take the required action thus endangering the life of commuters which ultimately resulted in the gruesome tragedy. Seeking a high level probe into the construction and expenditure on Ramnagar-Dudu road, he called for appropriate action against delinquent officers. He further sought registration of criminal cases against concerned officers of R&B(PWD) Deptt. under sections 161,167,167-A,268,304-A,431,464/465 besides other relevant sections of Ranbir Penal Code against the concerned officers of R&B (PWD). |
