23 years later, VOJ presents challan against Ex-Minister in DA case

Jammu, Dec 3 (JNF): Finally after 23 years investigation, Vigilance Organization Jammu today presented challan against Jagjeevan Lal Ex-Minister in disproportionate assets case in the Court of special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Puneet Gupta granted bail to Jagjeevan Lal Ex-Minister to the tune of Rs 30,000.
According VOJ case Jagjeevan Lal Ex-Minister was reported to be in possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income. It was also alleged that cement for the construction of Charayra Panhal Canal was used for construction of the house of Jagjeevan Lal by the officers/officials of the irrigation dept who used less cement for construction of said canal. It was further alleged that Jagjeevan Lal abused his official position as Minister got the road constructed up to his house in Tehsil Reasi through PWD which was of no use to the General Public.
According to the verification conducted by VOJ revealed that Jagjeevan Lal Ex-Minister has acquired assets which are disproportionate to his known source of income. Verification further established that substandard material was used for construction of said canal and material meant for construction of canal was usedfor the construction of Minister's house by the officers and registered FIR u/s 5(2) PC Act 2006 and 120-B RPC, 167-A RPC.
During the course of investigation, it was revealed that Jagjeevan Lal s/o Manshkh Rai, got elected as MLA from Reasi Assembly in the year 1983 and was subsequently inducted as Minister in the J&K State. During the course of investigation it was found that assets acquired by Jagjeevan Lal during the period when he was MLA/Minister J&K State were worth 3, 54, 096.48/-. The total income of the accused from all sources during this period has been worked out to the tune of Rs 89080/- which is evident from his salary statement.
