VKK organises Clay Modeling Art Competition

Jammu, Dec 5: Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK), Jammu today organized an Clay Modeling Art Competition for school children in connection with the week long celebration of Birth Anniversary of Late V.R. Khajuria, an eminent Sculptor of the State, where Smt. Hemla Aggarwal, Principal Govt College for Women, was the Chief Guest. I. D. Soni, Commissioner, Bharat Scouts & Guides, J&K State & Director (Retired), School Board of Education and Savita Bakshi were the guests of honour. The function started with lighting the ceremonial lamp and garlanding the photo of Sh. Khajuria by the Chief guest and other dignitaries . In her welcome speech, Raj Bharti, President, VKK, highlighted the works done by the Kendra in the past and the activities undertaken by the Kendra. She informed that the Kendra is working for the uplifting of the down trodden as well as women folk lore, art, craft and cultural activities. She told that a school is being run by her at Khanpur Nagrota for slum area children. Sh. Soni emphasized on the view that the importance of taking interest and participating in such activities plays a vital role in the development of the child' personality. Smt. Sabita Bakshi in her speech said that Cultural Academy is under a process to bring a publication of monograph of Sh. V. R. Khajuria. In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts put up by Raj Bharti, President, VKK for undertaking endeavours in the field of art and social work. She was happy to know that VKK is performing versatile role in conducting a veriety of cultural and social activities. Smt. Susham extended the Vote Thanks. A team of jury comprising of Mssrs. Bisambar Mehta, Arvind Gupta and J.S.Verman adjudged the works created in this competition. The following students were declared winners: Juniors Group: 1st - Parul Sharma,Convent Higher Sec. School 2nd : Aditya Singh, Co-operative Pub. School, 3rd : KV No.1, Gandhi Nagar Jammu; 3rd Sanya Sharma, JK Pub. School, Panjtirthi; Consolation: Maseena, Viraj Bal Bhawan, Khanpur, Nagrota; Diljit Kour, Stephan International School, Kullian. Senior Group: 1st -Seema Mahajan, Shiksha Niketan Sr. Sec. School; 2nd & 3rd :Nagma and Sunny, Co-operative Pub. School; Consolation: Mayuri Sharma, and Sohani, KV No. 1, Gandhinagar.
