Ensure time line completion, proper redressal of public grievances: DyCM to officers

JAMMU, Dec 5: Exhorting officers to gear up activities for timely redressal of public grievances and time line completion of projects, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said completion of urban development projects in a time bound manner is of utmost importance and coming up to the expectations of public should be endeavor of the officers.
"In order to address urban infrastructure requirements the government has launched prestigious projects under JNNURM and other such schemes, it is duty of the officers to prioritize works for fast track completion these projects," he added.
He said special provisions have been kept in law for urban poor and now it is duty of all the concerned officers to make sure that only those projects are given clearances which incorporate these special provisions.
Deputy Chief Minister was chairing a high level meeting to review the ongoing projects under various scheme of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) here today.
"As per latest amendments in the municipal act, every housing project has to keep 20% provision for economically poor and now concerned officers have to make sure that projects keep provision for the urban poor population," he added.
Taking review of the response of e-governance launched in the department, the Deputy Chief Minister said the project has enabled common public to get access to various services like building permission, birth/death certificates etc as well as register online complaints without visiting the concerned municipal office. He said common public has to be made aware of such online provisions and special media campaigns need to be done for the purpose.
"The department has created its own website and people can now get access to services in JMC, SMC as well as other municipal bodies, thus making it possible to avail services while sitting at home in a transparent manner besides registering and checking status of their online complaints ," he said.
Detailed review of activities of JUDA was also done and directions were passed to make sure that the trainees are given market oriented trainings and proper feedback of those who have successfully completed are taken to know the effective benefit people are getting from such employment generating schemes.
